Help when you need it

Pregnancy

Pregnancy can be one of the most incredible times in life, and often, and sometimes, simultaneously, it can bring big challenges, as well. Having experienced my own challenges during pregnancy, I understand how it feels to have a pregnancy look and feel different than you may have hoped, envisioned, or expected.

Postpartum

Massive life changes accompany becoming a mother or expanding your family. Processing thoughts and emotions can clear mental and emotional space and yield more bandwidth during this time of giving, resting, integrating, and expanding. What happens during these moments matters, and care for all mothers should be available during this sensitive and important time.

Parenting

The context in which we each grow up, our relationships with our primary caretakers, and the experiences we have with our parents deeply and profoundly shape us. Few things are more meaningful to me than helping parents improve the care they give their children, their parenting experiences, and the personalized help their children need during these sensitive developmental windows.

Philosophy

What happens during pregnancy and early childhood matters. Experiences during these sensitive times shape who we become, how we experience the world, and how we feel about ourselves and others.

We are social beings who are wired for connection. The types of connection we have, meaning, the way we are treated and the way we interact with those around us, especially when we are very young, informs our social, emotional, physical, physiological, and neurological development.

Healthy connection is based in trust, consistency, safety, accountability, predictability, care, warmth, nurturing, and love. Most parents want to give these things to their children, and more — but, sadly, sometimes things can get in the way.

Family stressors, conflicting needs, misunderstanding, differing personality types, unhealed parent wounds, and unique child needs are just a few things that can cause problems if ignored or unaddressed.

If your family is experiencing bumps that feel like they’ve been going on for too long, or if you are seeing your child struggle more than feels okay, consulting with someone or seeking support as soon as possible can have a tremendously positive impact in your child’s life, your parenting journey, and the overall health of your family.

Help is available. Reaching out does not mean you are flawed, it means you care. Working with a specialist can be the quickest way to identify and address the root causes of things that are causing upset in your family.

Which Service is for You?

Through Counseling, I offer a warm and safe space where clients can unpack thoughts and feelings that can be painful or overwhelming. Through Coaching, I offer clients the opportunity to examine their role in the family dynamic (and in their child’s development) and prioritize stepping into being who they want to be as a parent. It is a beautiful process and possibly my most favorite offering. Parents have so much power, not only to influence and shape children’s behavior, but also to empower and support them in reaching their most optimal development - and living their best lives. Through coaching, parents can also heal and shed unhelpful or unprocessed injuries from their own early experiences and examine what they truly desire to give to their children. I offer Consultation for people who want just an hour or two of discussion or professional opinion on a specific issue without ongoing help or support.

What clients say...

The challenges caused by my divorce included my little daughter who is nine years old. I felt helpless and was looking for counseling for my child. What Sarah provided was so much more. Her concepts were simple and doable, yet smart and scientific, and she taught them to me so I can continue to use them to benefit my child on an ongoing basis.

Parent coaching with Sarah has given me a whole new toolset for interacting with my daughter - and frankly, also, with life. In just a few short sessions, I learned so much about what led to the divorce, what I needed to learn from it, how to be an empowered, yet empowering parent, how to communicate better, and how to effect positive change in my child. I am deeply grateful and would endorse Sarah’s services to all parents who are looking to continually better themselves for their children and for themselves.
