“Pregnancy is an important, special, sacred time in a woman’s life and in a baby’s development. What happens during this time matters, and the support a woman receives should be unconditional, free-flowing, and abundant.” ~ Sarah Angelina Gilbert

Support During Pregnancy

Types of Support I Offer

Counseling

Counseling is for people who are struggling with significant anxiety, depression, or symptoms of trauma to the point where it is interfering with their daily life. In counseling, you can expect to find a safe, nonjudgemental, accepting, warm place where you can share your fears, lower your defenses, and share what is going on with me. I an an experienced, licensed therapist who has been working with mothers and families for over 15 years. My approach is holistic, integrative, and evidenced-based. The goal of counseling during pregnancy is to reduce stress, explore root cause issues, if appropriate; increase the support you have in your inner circle, and to help you process what is happening and what is to come, psychologically and emotionally. Coaching

Coaching during pregnancy is for women or couples who want to consciously embark on clearing space for the new life that is to come. Whether this is your first baby and you are about to become a parent for the first time, or you are expanding your family, or you are having a baby with a new partner, consciously preparing for this change to come may be one of the most powerful things you can do. Having a baby and becoming a parent brings massive change - psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. All will change, and through coaching, you can identify your deepest values, hopes, and desires related to this chapter of your life. You can also create a roadmap to help you navigate the newness in a way that keeps your priorities clear and in focus - among other things. :) READ MORE

Consultation

Consultation is for people who have specific questions and just want a (or another) professional opinion. This is generally done in one hour or two, and generally without follow-up. Because I will not have background information on your situation (at least not that in-depth), info discussed will be “in general” as opposed to deeply individualized. Consultation can be helpful for partners who want to learn how they can best support their partners (especially if they have hyperemesis gravadarum or another type of complication), extended family members who want to learn how they can best support a pregnant person, or people who want to discuss which types of resources could be most helpful for different circumstances. Do You Take Insurance?

Counseling is a reimbursable services, but I am “out of network” with insurance companies. This means I can give you a superbill for counseling services, and you can submit this directly to your insurance company. They will then reimburse you according to your specific plan benefits. I recommend contacting them and asking, “what are my out of network benefits for mental health services?” Many clients receive significant reimbursement.

Sadly, Coaching and Consultation are not services that are covered by health insurance plans. Some people have successfully used FSA for coaching and consultation, therefore it may be worthwhile to contact your FSA company to find out if they would cover services with me.

How Do I Get Started?

Click on the Counseling, Coaching, or Consultation pages (above or in the menu bar) for info about how to begin with each. If you are not sure which service would be the best fit for you, please contact me. I offer a free consult call to new clients and am happy to help determine if we could be a good fit for working together, and if so, which service may be the most helpful for you.
